Born in Cape Town, raised in Gugulethu, it was Motheo’s love of imagery that led him to study at the National College of Photography.
His interest in creating powerful pictures and the drive to expand moments drove him to explore the possibilities of cinematography.
Having graduated with an already impressive list of achievements, Motheo has completed 10 feature films and some international documentaries including Africa’s first Original Netflix “Queen Sono” in 2018 his work had him inducted to be part of the SASC.
He has worked on a wide variety of formats, with a lot of different directors, but one thing remains the same: Motheo’s gentle character and collaborative working style make anything possible, a formidable skill in an industry built on imagination.
